FAQ
What is Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage?
BLD is a form of manual therapy where the therapist uses a series of strokes to effectively direct stagnant lymphatic fluid and its waste products toward the lymph nodes to be naturally excreted by the body.
What are the benefits of BLD?
There are just so many. Overall detoxification, reducing fluid retention, supporting digestive health and reducing bloating, increased blood circulation, boosted immune system, reducing cortisol levels and relaxing the nervous system, post op recovery, postpartum recovery, supporting liver health and rebalancing hormones, increased energy, increased mobility and flexibility, flushing out stagnant fibrotic tissue due to stagnant fluid, and more…
Will I see/feel results immediately?
Everyone is different, in most cases clients feel an immediate difference in some way. Some clients see a difference immediately, others see the difference later in the evening, the next day, or the day after. Fluid continues to flush out up to 3 days after the session so significant detoxification occurs overnight as the liver is active.
What can I expect to feel from detoxification?
One or any of these detox symptoms can occur at any point in the day(s) following the session: increased urination, bowel movement, sweat, and phlegm, increased energy/euphoric feeling, fatigue, sweat smells different, tasting metals in the mouth, small ulcers in the mouth, decreased anxiety, nausea, head cold (usually doesn’t last more than 1hr to a day), enlarged lymph nodes. Why certain symptoms occur is mainly due to what’s moving out- heavy metals, microplastics, mold, parasites, yeast, bacteria/virus, certain chemicals or compounds, medications, damaged cells, cortisol and other hormones, etc.
Does it hurt?
It doesn’t, typically it’s extremely relaxing. In areas where there is more fluid build up it can be more sensitive, so I use lighter pressure until this moves out and I can comfortably move deeper through the layers.
How long do results/effects last?
It depends on the client, their body, and primarily their lifestyle (and toxin load) and levels of stress. Eating simply and cleanly, getting proper movement and hydration, and reducing stress (meditation, diaphragmatic breathing, stretching, and other outlets) goes a very long way toward making your results last. I’ve heard results last anywhere from 1 week to 6 months depending on a client.
How should I prepare?
Hydration is key here, especially in our high desert climate. Start upping it 3 days before the session. Also eat cleanly and simply, think whole ingredients preferably organic, and get some movement in! Any type is fine, a lot of the lymph nodes are in the joints because when we move it squishes them and pumps that fluid. When we sit for extended periods of time it’s like a garden hose at a 90 degree angle and the fluid becomes trapped. Day of session eat light so that the abdomen massage is comfortable, but hydrate a lot- you can of course use the restroom as many times as you need.
What should I wear?
Anything is fine but preferably loose clothing and underwear that doesn’t have tight bands that choke the lymph nodes in the lower abdominal region. Underwear is optional during the session as you will be appropriately covered at all times.
How often should I receive this type of massage?
Everyone is different and comes in for different reasons. On average for general health maintenance I recommend every 1-2 months. I have some clients I see weekly and others twice a year. More often in the beginning is more beneficial to get things moving. For event prep I recommend 1-3 sessions before the event, up to 2-3 days before it. For post op I recommend 1 session per week for 4-6 weeks starting 2 weeks after the surgery.
I’m pregnant, is this safe?
Yes, after the first trimester. I have a service just for you- the Babymoon Flush. I will be working the legs, abdomen, arms, upper chest, neck, and face. A fantastic service for flushing out swelling and inflammation due to pregnancy, and to create a healthy internal environment for your baby to develop.
How can I benefit from this after surgery?
Lymphatic drainage helps reduce swelling, improve circulation, and speed up healing by moving excess fluid and toxins (such as medications and anesthesia) out of the body. It can also minimize scar tissue, prevent fibrosis, and relieve post-surgical discomfort.
What is reflexology lymphatic drainage?
I learned this technique from a Welsh reflexologist who developed it and has published research on its efficacy. RLD stimulates the lymphatic system through reflex points on the feet; lymphatic vessels, nodes, and organs can all be mapped to specific points, and I massage these points in a specific order. It works, and it’s like magic. Hospitals in the UK have been using this treatment for lymphedema patients, however everyone can benefit from this gentle technique.
What is Myofascial Remodeling face massage?
I had the honor of learning this technique in London in 2024 from an advanced facial massage master from Poland. It employs myofascial techniques to lengthen and release hypertonic (tight) muscles in the face that contribute to the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and asymmetry. It’s luxurious, relaxing and effective in remodeling and rebalancing the tissues.
What is European Face Lifting Massage?
Also known as Non-surgical Facelift, this is another technique I learned while in London in 2024. Inspired by Japanese Kobido massage (translating to “ancient way of beauty”) and Russian techniques, this modality utilizes quick, stimulating strokes that lift the facial tissues and get the blood circulating, helping with lymphatic drainage of toxins and oxygen delivery to the cells. Your face will be left feeling alive, lifted, and revitalized

What is fire cupping?
This is an ancient technique used around the world in various cultures- most notably in East Asia (Ba Guan Fa in China) and Mexico (Ventosas). Essentially fire is used to remove oxygen from a glass cup so that it can be suctioned to the body. By default, I place the cups on the back to release back tension and fascial adhesions, stimulate circulation of blood, and bring deeper toxins and old blood to the surface to be released through the lymphatic system.
What is buccal massage?
Buccal massage is an intraoral technique that targets the buccal pad (fat pad in the cheek) and facial muscles to significantly tone and sculpt the jaw, flush deeper inflammation and fluid, and sharpen facial contours. It also offers noticeable relief from facial tension and TMJ syndrome.
What is facial cupping?
Facial cupping is a gentle yet effective technique that uses a set of tiny suction cups to flush out lymphatic fluid and waste products, break up fascial restrictions, and stimulate blood circulation. Another great added modality for sculpting, de-puffing, and lifting.
